2014 Race Season

The 2014 Race Calendar is up! Check out the blog tabs above for 2014 info.

NEW FOR 2014:
  • Kincaid XC #4 will be held up on the Hillside Trails. Map and race info when we get closer. This race will be an unofficial prelude to the Singlespeed World Championships, which are being held here in Anchorage July 18-20!
  • Race categories will remain the same, but with two additions: Open Singlespeed (M/F, 2 laps only, must have only ONE gear), Open Fat Tire (M/F, 2 laps only, rims must be 70mm or larger)
  • We've decided to merge the Beginner category with the Short Course category - now all racers in the beginner or short course category will race on a course that is as equally long as the "long" or "advanced" course, but the most technical sections will be bypassed.
  • For the Kincaid Series, the 24 Hour race and the Championships: awards will be given to the first place racers in each category, but the top 3 racers in each category will be recognized on the official, super awesome, ABC Mountain Racing Division podium.
SEEKING HELP:
  • ASSISTANT RACE DIRECTOR: this is a paid position! You must be available for at least 80% of the Kincaid Series races and ALL of the State Champs races. You will be paid a per race "stipend" depending on your level of involvement. Duties to include: race registration & timing, advertising, volunteer coordination, involvement in race-day prep, and being Megan's right-hand man (or woman). Please email Megan if interested. This would be a great job for a high school student that has a car!
  • Board Members: you get to plan the courses and be an integral part of the team of folks that makes these races happen. You race for free and get little perks here and there... contact us for more info.
  • We need volunteers for course clearing and marking. Please either email the race director HERE or leave a message on our Facebook page. If you help, you race for free. BOOM!

Kincaid XC #2 Results

Results are posted under the Kincaid XC Race Series tab above. Check them out!

We had exactly 100 racers start last night during spouts of rain, a bit of wind and some cloudage. But again and again we heard "perfect racing weather!" Excellent job to all of you! Thanks for coming out and braving the rooty course!

Thank you to those that show up on time (between the 5:30-6:30 check-in window) - this makes it so much easier on the timers. Please understand that when you show up late, you only add to the hectic nature of an already hectic situation. Be mindful and courteous to the VOLUNTEERS that take time out of their busy lives to help and support YOU.

We have awesome bike club apparel for sale! 24 Hours of Kincaid shirts (mens and womens) for $15 and Arctic Bike Club Mountain Racing full-zip hoodies (mens and womens) for $45. They will be available at all the races until they are sold out.

24 Hours of Kincaid info

Just a few important things to note:

1) you may still register or pick up your race number tomorrow down in the Kincaid stadium from 11-11:30am.

2) the red gate to the stadium will be open around 8am tomorrow morning - once the gate is open, you will be able to drive your vehicle down into the stadium and park/camp.

3) the main red gate (out by the Raspberry Parking Lot) locks at 10pm. we will open it for a 1/2 hour from 1-1:30am so that 12 hour racers that need to go home can. It will then lock from 1:30-8am. Please plan accordingly.

4) if you have an armload of wood you can donate to the burn barrel, PLEASE BRING IT! we are low on wood this year.

5) the grill is for all to use - we will provide the usual BBQ fare, but feel free to stick whatever you want on it. usually it gets going around 6pm and runs most of the night. we don't really have a "grill master," so plan on cooking your own food or having a friend or family member do it for you. sometimes a really nice individual takes over grill duties for a couple of hours - we love those people!

6) remember, you have to finish your last lap BEFORE the 6, 12 or 24 hour mark. if you are out on the course when your race ends, that lap will NOT count.

7) we will hold awards for the 6 hour race right after it ends. awards for the 12 and 24 hour race will be held after the 24 hour race ends. we encourage all participants to stay overnight and help support & cheer on the 24 hour racers - they're gonna need it!

8) NO GROUND FIRES. you may have a gas or charcoal grill at your campsite, but no fires on the ground, no fires in a fire container. the only open fire allowed will be the main burn barrel and it will be centrally located by the finish line, food, etc...

9) there will be 4 rent-a-cans down in the stadium for your use!

10) we do NOT provide water to refill your water bottles with. bring a large jug or water cooler for that. we DO provide drink mixes (thank you Hammer Nutrition!) and gels, fizzies, etc... plus BBQ food.  So basically, bring your own water, snack foods & breakfast.

Questions? EMAIL please.

ps- I just posted the updated XC #2 results...
