Arctic Valley Hill Climb

Race registration is 6-6:45pm.
Pre-race meeting at 6:45pm.
Race will start at 7pm sharp.

Parking & registration will be in a dirt parking lot on the right side of the Arctic Valley road about 1.5 miles up from the Moose Run driving range. To get there, take the Glenn HWY out towards Eagle River. Take the Arctic Valley exit. Go straight towards mountains, past the golf course and driving range. The paved road will turn to dirt- keep going. You will eventually see a large parking lot on the right. Look for a red Subaru wagon with a table set up next to it. Register here.

The race will start back down at the driving range, but you'll all get there via bike.

The Arctic Valley hill climb is about 7 miles, all up hill, to the Alpenglow Chalet parking lot. It's great for getting your hill work in!

CYCLOCROSS BIKES ARE ALLOWED!

It's $15 for adults, under 18 race free.

YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE ARCTIC BIKE CLUB TO RACE!
To become a member, go here.

Kincaid XC #4 Results

What a beautiful evening we had... and an excellent turn-out! 62 people came out to ride the ski trail-heavy course last night. General consensus: it was a blast!

Here are the POINTS after Kincaid #3. I will post the points update (will include Kincaid #4) as soon as it's done. If you see a problem with your points, please email me: megpiersma@gmail.com.

***If you've been racing in two different categories (for instance, one race you did beginner, then you upgraded to sport for the next race), you will see your name in each category on the points sheet. We are not yet sure how to reconcile this... it might just be that you earned points in both categories... we'll figure it out soon and update the points... I'll let you know what we decide.***

Next race:
Beach Lake XC, THIS Saturday, July 30. More details will be posted to the blog soon!

Bartlett Short Track

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

This is a brand new venue and it's going to be great! We have a super fun, fast short track course planned out, so come on out Tuesday night!

Registration will be 6:00-6:45pm.
Pre-race meeting sometime between 6:45 and 7:00pm
Race will start at 7pm

$15 for adults, under 18 are free as always
Helmets are (always) required
You must be an ABC member to race... join online HERE.

All racers will do 25 minutes around the "short track" plus one lap. We'll sound the bell when you are about to do your last lap. Your goal is to do as many laps as possible in that time frame.

Our plan is to send everyone out at the same time, unless we get hordes and hordes of racers, then you'll be split into groups and one group will go at a time while the other group watches (this is a GREAT race for spectators because the racers will be whipping through the start/finish area every couple of minutes).

Parking will be at the far east end of the parking lot that is on the east side of Bartlett High School. From Anchorage, get on Muldoon and take Muldoon north over the Glenn Highway. Turn right when you see the Bartlett High School sign. You'll continue along the short little road IN FRONT of the high school to the east side parking lot. You can't really get lost back in there... just head towards the mountains when you get onto the school road.

We don't have a map for you guys because it will literally take you a matter of minutes to pre-ride the course once you get registered.

Come on out and experience the thrills of a short track race!!!

24 Hours of Matanuska Results

What a blast! Weather cooperated perfectly and there were so many enthusiastic, FUN, inspirational people out there! It was really, truly incredible to see so many people riding for so long, so hard and still smiling (for the most part) when they came through the start/finish.

A huge thanks to Greg from Speedway who organized the whole dang thing, and to all the folks that volunteered their time to help set up and take down the course. Also, Bob & Meg Stehn, our timers, were absolutely and completely amazing. They were the best timers that this race has ever seen, or will probably ever see again.

If you have any PHOTOS you would like to share, email them to megpiersma@gmail.com.

DANG, what a good time!!!
